Ok, so I’ve been a bit behind the times.  OO.o 3 (OpenOffice.org) has been around for quite some time, and I think I even blogged about it before (maybe not), but it hasn’t been until lately that I really started using it that I really enjoyed it’s true power.  Being a Mac user, I’ve kinda pushed myself away from OO.o because it ran in a hackish style through X11 and didn’t seem very Mac-like.  I recently started looking for some good word processors for OS X (open source and/or free naturally), and I found some but nothing that had good formatting tools.  GoogleDocs is great for collaborating (which I don’t need), but it’s formatting is very simplistic.  So I decided to have another look at OO.o.  All I can say is, wow!  It’s almost like using a completely different application then before.  The interface is native, or at least makes a good cover if it’s still using X11.  The toolset is everything I would expect and more.  Once I get OO.o synced with GoogleDocs, I’ll be set.  Then I could view my documents on my iPod Touch when I’m on the go.

So, you might be wondering, why am I blogging about OO.o?  Well, I’m cracking down on completing my book, Blender Game Networking.  So stay tuned, there’s more to come …
